Hoover T-Series WindTunnel Bagged Vacuum – Best Overall Bagged Pet Hair Vacuum
The dependable vacuum that shouldn’t be judged by it’s looks.
Pros:
- One-Touch door release for bag replacement
- 5 height adjustments for floor types
- Adjustable brush roll for carpet and hardwood
- HEPA filtration
- 30-foot cord
Cons:
- Short extension hose
- Doesn’t swivel well around furniture
- Will struggle with thick, shag carpet
Hoover creates solid vacuums and they have for year. This bagged vacuum for pets is no different in their high quality lineup.
This WindTunnel vacuum is specifically designed with a unique suction system for pet hair. That’s why it ranks at the top of our list. It has even been certified by P.A.W.S. as having high quality pet hair suction ability.
We won’t put it at the top of our “pretties vacuums” list because it clearly doesn’t belong there. But this article is about function, not fashion.
This Hoover has HEPA filtration which is obviously a huge benefit. This traps up to 99.9% of particles in the air down to 0.3 microns. Basically, it’s extremely good at vacuuming up small particles. And locking them inside forever.
And with a long 30-foot cord, this WindTunnel can reach extremely far on just one plug. For me, that’s huge because I can finish the living room and dining room from just one outlet. Who wants to keep unplugging a vacuum these days?! Might as well get a cordless vacuum instead.
The best features of this bagged pet vacuum is the One-Touch feature for removing bags and putting them in the garbage. You just push one button to release the bag-holding mechanism from the vacuum. And then push one more button (while hovering over the garbage) to release the bag. You never even have to touch the dirty bag!
Another great feature is the on-off switch on the brush roll. This allows you to seamlessly transition from carpet to your hardwood or laminate flooring to vacuum. Definitely a positive feature these days.
But let’s be honest, it’s not all perfect with this Hoover WindTunnel. There are some shortcomings. First, it truly struggles with mobility and maneuverability. It’s rigid in the design so it’s won’t swivel effortlessly around furniture like some other vacuums.
Second, that extension hose is very short and doesn’t perform well. So you may struggle using this vacuum to get embedded pet hair out of your upholstery. So keep that in mind.
But overall, we still think this WindTunnel is an excellent vacuum for the money. You can find it here on Amazon too.
Bissell CleanView Bagged Pet Vacuum – Best Bagged Vacuum For Pet Hair Under $200
A sleek design on a vacuum that excels with pet hair.
Pros:
- Comes with Febreze Odor eliminator bag
- Triple action brush roll
- Weighs only 12 lbs.
- Delivers with replacement bags and belts
- Has flexible crevice pet attachment tool
Cons:
- Durability is lower than expected
- Crevice tool not the best on upholstery
Another solid company profile for vacuums comes from Bissell. They’ve been making vacuums for decades and this CleanView Pet vacuum is solid quality for what you need. It’s designed for pet hair, but honestly isn’t truly in consideration for the top vacuum on the market list. It’s got limitations.
What makes this vacuum good is a few different key features. First, it obviously has a bag which means the filtration is higher quality than bagless. And with an easy-replace bag system, you can jump between bags quickly and painlessly.
The Triple-Action brush roll is also a nice feature. It’s designed to act tough on carpet (but gently of course) and power through short and long hairs tangled inside. Combined with powerful suction, this creates a solid pet vacuum. But some people did note that the brush roll breaks first on this vacuum. Those might just be lemons, but something to remember.
And with it’s 12 lbs design and 27 foot power cord, this CleanView vacuum is versatile and mobile enough to get almost anywhere. Add in the 3 year warranty and you are good to go.
But it’s not all roses with this Bissell. As we stated earlier, that brush roll tends to break quickly. And the crevice tool really struggles with vacuuming on upholstery. So keep that in mind.
It’s not going to be a contender for best overall vacuum, but this Bissell CleanView can rock the designation of best vacuum for pet hair under $200. Check it out here on Amazon.
Eureka Mighty Mite Bagged Canister Vacuum – The Best Canister Vacuum For Pet Hair
Pros:
- Extremely portable canister vacuum
- HEPA filtration
- Weighs less than 9 lbs.
- Adjustable height for bare and carpeted floors
- Motorized brush roll attachment for pet hair
Cons:
- Poor performance on thicker shag carpets
- Hose kinks easily
The Eureka Might Mite Pet Canister vacuum is perfect for those who already know and love using canister vacuums. If you’ve never actually used canisters before, check out our review on canister vacuums and see how well they could work for you.
The best feature of this Eureka canister vacuum is the motorized pet attachment brush. This is what separates the Pet Mighty Mite from the other vacuums in Eureka’s arsenal. This motorized brush attaches to the end of the hose and automatically starts working.
Many other customers have raved about this pet attachment as being the standout feature. They definitely find it superior to many other “pet” versions of vacuums out there.
Some other good aspects are the HEPA filtration and the lightweight design. HEPA is a big feature these days as many people recognize it’s significance in air quality. And with a bag, this top bagged pet hair vacuum can seamlessly contain all the dust and dirt without leaking.
And at only 9 lbs, this vacuum can travel anywhere you can. It’s extremely portable and the long hoses and 27 foot power cord encourage you to travel far in your vacuuming journey.
But it’s not all perfect with this Eureka Mighty Mite. Some people have commented that it struggles with thicker carpet. So for shag carpet owners, check out our other shag guide here. Also the hose can kink easily if you’re pulling it long distances. This can be annoying for some users.
Overall though, this Eureka Mighty Mite is an excellent buy for pet hair. Check it out here on Amazon.
Kenmore Elite Pet Bagged Vacuum Cleaner
The silver bullet of quality in bagged vacuums on pet hair
Pros:
- Certified HEPA by AAFA
- Belt-less design for longevity
- Dirt indicator light
- Come with specific pet attachment
- Inducer motor with 20% more power
Cons:
- No swivel so poor maneuverability
- Brush bristles are tough on hardwoods
- Blower port is in terrible location
Kenmore is far more well known for their appliances than their cleaning machines. But they made a good effort for vacuums with this Elite model.
Although it’s not the most highly rated vacuum on the market, it can serve well for pet hair. But make no mistake, we would never call this the best vacuum for pet hair and hardwood floors.
The best aspect about this Kenmore vacuum is the incredible filtration. It has been certified by the Asthma and Allergy Association of America (AAFA) for it’s fantastic filtering ability. Naturally it’s also got a triple HEPA filter built it which is better than most other vacuums we reviewed.
And another great feature is the pet attachment. It’s designed with a brush roll like most models, and it performs well on carpet and upholstery. Add in the crevice tool and the extension wand and you’ve got a complete package to clean with.
Now you add in the inducer motor and you’re on the verge of creating a superior vacuum cleaner. This inducer motor produces 20% more air power (also known as air watts) than a standard belt-driven motor. And because no belts exist, it will be more durable in the long run.
And lastly, this little Kenmore vacuum has a unique feature. It has an indicator light showing you when the ground is clean after vacuuming. It’s a clever little sensor that inspects the ground and informs you when you are done cleaning that area. To be fair, it seems to work better on bare floors than carpet, but it’s still a neat little bonus.
Now let’s talk about the downsides, because this vacuum isn’t perfect. First, many customers had issues with the bristles being too tough on their floors. If you have true hardwood floors, stay away from this vacuum because one customer even noted them scratching the floors. Yikes!
Second, that blower port on the vacuum is in a terrible location. It’s located on the bottom right side of the vacuum and it’s extremely powerful (probably because the inducer motor is so powerful). But it actually ends up pushing particles away from the vacuum because it’s so strong. So if you vacuum from left to right, you’ll always be pushing some dust and pet hair away instead of vacuuming it.
So you can see there’s clear downsides to this Kenmore Elite vacuum. That’s why it’s ranked where it is on our list. But if you truly need more “pet capable” vacuums, it certainly accomplishes that aspect well. Check out this vacuum here on Amazon.
Deik Cordless Handheld Vacuum Cleaner – The Best Bagless Vacuum For Pet Hair
Pros:
- Excellent cleaning of pet hair
- Easy to assemble
- Lightweight and portable
- Securely packaged
Cons:
- Some parts of plastic and break easily
- Purchasers criticize the company’s poor customer service
- Lesser performance on carpets
We threw this vacuum in the mix in case you go this far and decided to go with a bagless option instead. We talk all about bagged versus bagless below. But if you had to pick on, this Deik vacuum is high quality bagless. It made our cordless vacuum list here too.
With all this versatility, flexibility, and power, it would be a shame if this vacuum was difficult to use. Fortunately, it’s one of the easiest sticks you can find on Amazon. It has a small size and is lightweight. It also performs well on hard floors with just the push of a button. Most buyers compliment the machine’s easy assembly, great battery life, and secure packaging.
It is power-packed with an impressive 7kpa of suction power to give you deep, thorough cleaning. It gives up to 25 minutes of consistent suction. Deik cordless vacuum cleaner can be used on hardwood floors, tiles, and carpets. It also allows movement around tight corners and furniture, thanks to its LED indicator lights.
Weighing only 4.7 Lbs, the Deik cordless vacuum cleaner is very light, versatile, easy to carry, and fits anywhere. Versatility is incredibly important in any stick vacuum, and Deik has produced a stick vacuum that does exactly that. The product quickly changes to handheld and reaches everywhere the dirt does.
Now, when you’ve finished vacuuming, you’d probably want to get rid of all of the dust, dirt, and debris. Removing the dirt compartment is also done with the simple press of a button. Then, you can simply remove its contents into the waste bin. The wall-mounted dock means that storage is easy and saves precious space.

Bagged vs Bagless Vacuums – Why Are Bags Better?
The method through which you dispose of the dirt and debris your vacuum cleaner collects is a very important thing to consider when choosing the best bagged vacuum for pet hair. It can easily be an upright or even a canister vacuum with a bag.
Bagged vacuum cleaners have been in the market for a pretty long time. Typically, the bag fits into a cloth section that zips around the bag and can be easily removed and replaced whenever it gets full. While bags vary from model to model, the following are the most common perks that come along with bagged vacuums.
1. Bags Are More Hygienic
Bagged vacuums are known to be very hygienic. This is caused by many reasons, and not just because the debris and dirt are contained within a closed bag.
Technological developments over the years help keep the dirt, debris, and possible allergens securely and healthily inside the bag, and not just during use of the vacuum cleaner, but when you are removing the bag from the unit for disposal as it helps prevent those potential allergens from getting back into the air. That is why they are strongly recommended for allergy sufferers.
2. Features HEPA Filtration
The best bagged vacuum for pet hair often uses HEPA filters to help trap allergens that fly around your home. Vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters are highly recommended, especially for those that suffer allergies. In order for a product to earn HEPA status the filters have to pass through lots of tests to ensure that they can capture at least 99.97% of particles that are 0.3 microns or larger. HEPA filters are available for all kinds of vacuum cleaners and are not bagged units only.
3. Low Maintenance
Bagged vacuums can hold up to two pounds of debris, reducing the need to be changed all the time. Also, because the filter is built-in to the bag it never needs to be cleaned, and you always know exactly when the best time to replace the filter.
What Other Tips Can Help Combat Pet Hair in Carpets And Hardwoods?
Keeping fur off of clothing, furniture, and the floor is a never-ending chore in every home. Here are a few tips that will help you out if you live with a hairy housemate.
Embrace your grooming responsibilities to the fullest by giving your dog or cat a quick brush outside or in the garage every day because it will save you time and effort spent dusting, sweeping and vacuuming. Soon, you’ll see a reduction in the amount of dander you find around the house. Your pet won’t shed as many hairballs for you to step on before you wake up in the morning.
Choose a brush designed for your pet’s hair coat. You can use a rake-type brush or a shedding blade. If it has long hair, you could go for different varieties. Many pet owners like brushes that are built into gloves so their pets can feel like they are getting petted rather than brushed.
Try vacuuming your pets; that is if they don’t fight you for it or don’t get frightened. Some pets actually absolutely love it and think it’s a special treat. Also, take extra care as some vacuums may be too powerful and can harm your pet’s skin.
Choose your clothes carefully. Several pet owners actually said they’ve actually stopped wearing black clothes so pet hair would not be as glaring.
Use throw rugs to protect hardwood and laminate floors and carpets. Place your rugs in strategic positions, so they take a major share of pet fur and help prevent it from spreading throughout the house. You should also have one at each doorway to the outdoors to absorb the dust, dirt and debris that your pet brings in through their feet and fur. Choosing the best bagged vacuum for pet hair and hardwood floors will save you precious time and hard-earned money.
Keep paws clean. After your dogs have been outdoors, wipe their feet with a hand gloves before letting them into the rest of the house. You will be amazed as to how rapidly the gloves get dirty, but that simply means the rest of the home is staying clean.
What to Look For In a Bagged Vacuum
Buying a bagged vacuum depends on the type of cleaning you want to perform, which also determines the type of vacuum cleaner you should buy. By extension, your cleaning needs will determine the features to look for.
Branded bags often come with additional filtration to keep allergens from escaping, and some bags are self-seal. There are cheaper alternative bags that are also available. However, these usually do not offer the same filtration perks, so you may need to clean your vacuum’s filters more often. Check whether these bags are reusable or not so that you don’t end up having to buy a few more bags.
While you could be able to get great deals on the internet or market, it’s advised not to cut so much because you might waste money on a machine that won’t be able to meet your cleaning needs. Look for discounts of up to 10 to 40 percent off. You can even get a better discount during the holiday season.
Does HEPA Matter with Bagged Vacuums? And How Does HEPA Help?
HEPA has become an everyday language and is used to show high air purification standards. High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) is an air filter comprised of a mat of dense fibers arranged in folds which creates a fine mesh.
It’s designed according to federal standards to trap up to 99.97% of airborne particulate matter including bacteria, pathogens, microbial spores, soil particles, combustion soot particles, construction dust, and virus particles that cling onto larger particles. HEPA works by forcing the air through the mesh, trapping those harmful particles.
When buying cleaner bags look for products advertised as “HEPA-style” or “HEPA-like,” where filtration standards are high. Studies have shown that standard bagged vacuum cleaners release harmful particles back into the air.
These tiny particles are then either absorbed into the bloodstream or inhaled and have been proven to result in increases in allergies and asthma. Allergists advise that using bagged vacuum cleaners with HEPA filters to provide a complete solution for their allergy or asthma issues. In fact, the Healthy House Institute advises that the most important features in a vacuum cleaner are the HEPA filter itself and how well it is held in place.
A HEPA filter traps most HEPA filters help contribute to a healthy home environment, even for those without allergies or asthma. Even when the level of filtration is a lot more than most of us need, it makes people feel better about themselves. Recent epidemiological studies are proving that small particles of less than a micron may be a causal agent of hypertension.
