The Bissell Zing Bagged Canister Vacuum 4122 is a great multi-surface vacuum cleaners you will find on the market. It is designed to complement most cleaning tasks thanks to its lightweight design and other attributes that will make your cleaning task easier.

The Bissell is engineered and formed in sturdy design with plenty of other features such as swiveling wheels that change straightforwardly between grounds, making appropriate for premises with the internal rooms. This canister is ideal for almost all surfaces and deep pile carpets in homes and offices.

And best of all, this Bissell won’t break the bank. It comes in as the cheapest canister vacuum on our list, but it still provides good quality.

Compact and Lightweight

One of this canister’s selling points is its lightweight design and the fact that has one of the best onboard handle mechanisms. This allows you to carry it around on different floors (i.e. carpets, rugs, hardwoods, etc.) at a faster pace. If you don’t like carrying it (even though it’s only 10 lbs.), then you can pull it along since underneath the canister are four swiveling wheels.

The Downside

Obviously at this price point, there are some negatives about this vacuum. First is the lack of a beater brush. That’s tough to do on a cheaper vacuum like this, but a beater brush would be incredibly helpful on carpet. Especially thicker carpet. Many customers noted how the Zing works decently well on carpet, but it’s nothing to really smile at. A beater brush would have helped here. Also, the cord is too short for this vacuum. It should be 20-25 ft.

2. Hoover CH30000 PortaPower Lightweight Canister Vacuum

Hoover is one of the most trusted vacuum brands, because they bring buyers an easy and comfortable cleaning experience. Their new model, the Hoover CH30000 PortaPower, is one that has certainly lived up to the hype of a well-known commercial canister vacuum. While this model doesn’t require a typical vacuum bag, much like the units of its kind, it has a reusable cloth bag, so you won’t be left in a lurch, just in case you forgot to reorder.

The price point on the Hoover PortaPower is slightly more expensive than the Bissell Zing. But we feel the quality and powerful suction from this certified commercial quality vacuum justifies the price increase. Plus it’s a little more compact and has a much longer cord.

The Most Compact and Lightweight

The Hoover CH30000 PortaPower is one of the most lightweight commercial canister Vacuum you will come across. It only weighs 8.3 pounds and features a shoulder strap, so carrying it around the home won’t be difficult at all, and you won’t in any way strain your back. This makes it one of the most ideal canisters for those who do cleaning regularly. Thanks to its compact design, it easily cleans under furniture and tables without needing to move them around. Who wants to move a couch just to vacuum??

Vacuum cleaners meant for commercial use must be able to do all the difficult tasks because the rating system on commercial equipment is strict. The Hoover also doesn’t have wheels so you’re forced to carry it. That can be an inconvenience.

3.  Miele Classic C1 Olympus Canister Vacuum

Miele Classic C1 canister Vacuum cleaner is one of the best mid-range cleaner designed for low-to-medium pile carpet, rugs and smooth floors. This is one of the most complete options on the market. It’s versatile, easy to handle, and has great filtration. As expected, it’s exceptionally lightweight and with fantastic cleaning power capabilities.

However, all this comes at a premium… and it definitely is a premium compared to the previous canister vacuums here on the list. If you really love canister vacuums and plan to invest in one for a long term, the Miele brand is outstanding. But if you just need a quick canister clean up now and then, it might make more sense to stick with a budget friendly option. Your call. Just understand that you pay for quality. The Miele C1 is quality.

Compact and Lightweight

Miele Classic C1 features a compact and lightweight design, with a consistent body structure that allows a straightforward mobility throughout the house. The nicely shaped framework in this model is highly convenient for bringing around and it requires very little adjusting. It also has swivel wheels, which mean it can easily navigate through different kind of surfaces without you having to carry it around.

Excellent Cleaning Radius

The C1 has a huge 29.5 foot cleaning radius to get you around most of your home in 1 or 2 plugs. With the 18 foot cord and 10 foot hose, it’s not the biggest cord we’ve ever seen. But the extra long hose makes it more capable to reach higher ceilings and stairs. That’s a huge benefit to some of shorter people with those 10-11 foot ceilings.

Dynamic Suction Power

Miele Classic C1 feature a ultra-powerful multi-purpose suction utterly outstanding compared to the contender. It has six-stage suction functions that allow you to use the correct level of power for any surface. The dial power selector is user-friendly and adjustable. The unit also features conveniently located controls and one of the most powerful motors in the vacuum cleaner that allows it to clean effectively.

Outstanding Filter

Miele Classic C1 Olympus vacuum cleaner has one of the most outstanding filters crucial when it comes to coping with airborne particles and microorganism. It’s designed to catch 99.9 % of the hazardous allergens in fungus, mold and pet dander. The Miele Classic C1 airbag is relatively robust, and the storage is sufficiently good for all buyers.

On-Board Storage

The C1 comes with 2 convenient little spots on the canister that can store attachments. This is insanely helpful since most customers find themselves using 1 or 2 attachments consistently. It’s so nice to just pop off the one you need while in the middle of cleaning. You’ll still need to store the other attachments, but having a few on hand is super helpful!

The Downsides

First thing is the price. The C1 is far more expensive than the first few canisters on this list. But it’s for a good reason. This is like buying the Mercedes of canister vacuums. It’s an investment. If you love canister vacuums and have lots of bare floors and low carpet, this is your investment. But there’s also no beater brush so it’ll only work decent on medium-to-high pile carpet.

4. Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away Canister NR96

The Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away NR96 is a unique 2-in-1 vacuum since it is the only one on the market with a Lift-Away feature built in. The powerful suction particularly comes in handy cleaning hard surfaces and floors while the motorized brush clean deep into carpets and rugs.

Compact and Lightweight

When it comes to the weight and size, this full canister weighs 22.6 pounds and measures 14.37 x 32.68 x 16.34 inches. The weight may be quite a concern initially, but remember it has a Lift-Away feature. The full NR96 canister isn’t designed to be handheld, it’s really designed to be a pulling vacuum on the ground. The Lift-Away canister portion only weighs 10.3 lbs. and is much easier to haul around to get stairs and ceilings.

Powerful Suction Forever

The Shark NR96 never loses suction as advertised. In addition, it’s anti-allergen seal technology is incredibly effective in trapping air allergens and dust so it stays in the vacuum. The Lift-Away pod makes the NR96 absolutely the most versatile canister vacuum out there. It even makes you feel good about cleaning (yes we know that is very difficult)! The NR96 has a low profile coupled with an advanced rotating steering mechanism on the floor nozzle makes it very simple to maneuver throughout your homes and in those tiny spaces.
This canister includes the following accessories: Extension wand, lift away modes, Twist and Snap Hose and powered motor-brush.

On-Board Storage

The Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away Canister NR96 offers a variety of special features. Some of the outstanding features are its advanced swivel steering, Automatic Cord Rewind, dusting brush, straight suction outlet, Five-inch crevice tool, LED headlights, and simple fingertip controls. All these tools can easily be stored on the unit itself.

Multi-Surface Cleaning

What really separates the NR96 is the full motorized brush roll incorporated in both the full canister and Lift-Away mode. Motorized brushes are a unique luxury in most canister vacuums so finding one on this Shark is excellent. Motorized brushes are really necessary to clean deep into medium and low pile carpets. The brush stirs the carpet fibers to unlock even more dirt trapped down deep. The brush can even be controlled on and off with a button so you have complete control depending on what surface you’re vacuuming.

Excellent Filtration – With HEPA

The Shark NR96 has Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology + HEPA thta is designed to make a huge impact in your home by trapping 99.9% of allergens and dust. Combine the HEPA filter with 2 more foam filters and you’ve got a solid filtration system for even the most sensitive homes.

The Downside

The Shark does have some downsides. First, is the short power cord. At only 23 feet, it’s a lot shorter than we would like to see (30 feet is our preferred), but it’s still longer than most on this list. I guess we are just picky. Second, is some customers have discussed how difficult it is to connect different attachments to the hose. The motorized brush has been a particular sore spot with the Shark. People have noted that sometimes it seems nearly impossible to get them to actually “click” together.

But even with the downsides, its exciting technology and agile design make the Shark Rotator Powered Lift-Away Canister NR96 more versatile than nearly all other canister vacuums. With it, you are able to clean most areas, reach most ceilings and even clean under most furniture. It doesn’t get more versatile than that.

5. Electrolux EL4335B Corded Ultra Flex Canister Vacuum

Electrolux is a brand many people probably aren’t familiar with. It’s not a Dyson or Hoover that everyone knows for vacuums. Electrolux is actually more a parent company than a branded manufacturer. Maybe you’ve heard of FrigidAire or White-Westinghouse. Those brands are owned by Electrolux. Goes to show that Electrolux makes high quality items.

It’s worth noting that the UltraFlex is not Electrolux’s first canister vacuum line in the market. Electrolux first added the UltraFlex models from 2014 when they brought numerous to the market. The units have since gained a lot of popularity because of their flexibility and maneuverability. However, the Electrolux EL4335B Corded Ultra Flex Canister Vacuum model stands out as the main UltraFlex model in the market today.

Portable and Lightweight

The Electrolux UltraFlex is very similar to many of the other canister vacuums on this list. It’s really designed to be pulled on the ground, but it does have a handle for carrying up stairs. It weighs only 11.6 lbs which is very much in line with the other brands on here. What really helps for portability is the 21 foot cord combined with an 8 foot extendable hose. That gives a cleaning radius of 33 feet!

Powerful and Adjustable Suction

The Electrolux brings a great feature to the suction game, it has 3 different height levels you can adjust for your specific carpet or hardwood floor. Its even got a switch to turn off the brush roll so you never damage your bare floors. With it’s cyclonic suction, you’ll have consistent power to thoroughly clean everywhere.

Striking Design

The UltraFlex definitely grabs your attention with its striking design and fierce appearance. That seems to be the trend with canister vacuums (just look at the Shark above). It’s got the flashy body with a unique color scheme that’s complimented with a noticeable dark red color.

Versatile Cleaning

The UltraFlex was really designed around bare floors (hardwood and laminate and tile), low and medium pile carpets. It’s not going to be very effective on long or shag carpets, but if you need something for shag carpets, check out this list. The intuitive engineering has an effective and efficient cleaning performance all around those areas.

The UltraFlex even performs well with pet hair. So those customers with long haired pets can rest assured this Electrolux will take good care of you. It’s all these unique features that really make you understand the price increase on such a powerful unit.

Excellent Filtration – With HEPA

The Electrolux even went so far as to put HEPA filtration into this UltraFlex. It has multiple filters to trap 99.7% of all dust, allergens and dirt inside the canister. It can trap particles down to 0.3 microns. Those filters are even washable so you don’t need tons of replacement pieces. However, it is recommended by Electrolux to replace the HEPA filter once per year.

Extra Features & Attachments

The most exciting feature of the UltraFlex is the self-cleaning brush roll. This is patented technology actually has a cutting device built in next to the brushes. All you do is pull a lever and it cuts any trapped hair and sucks in into the vacuum.

The UltraFlex also comes with a crevice tool, an upholstery brush, and a bare floor nozzle to really help you tackle the whole house. Electrolux really tried to make this an all-in-one canister vacuum.

The Downside 

No vacuum is perfect and the Electrolux has it’s shortfalls just like the rest of them. First off, it’s not necessarily “cheap” by any means. When vacuums get over $300 it’s really starting to freak some people out. But remember, it wouldn’t make our list if the performance wasn’t worth it.  The second downfall is the cyclone gets clogged relatively easily preventing hair and larger dust to enter the dust cup. The only way to clean it is to manually remove the trapped hair. It can be a tough job for people who have long-haired dogs.

*BONUS* 6. Eureka Mighty Mite Canister Vacuum 3670G

If you’ve gotten this far in the article, we want to reward you and give an extra little something. It’s another option for those on a budget. The Eureka Mighty Mite is a little canister vacuum that can go a long way without breaking your bank.

The Eureka Mighty Mite Canister Vacuum is light a weight and portable model that provides convenient cleaning of multi surfaces. The canister incorporates on-board attachments so it can handle area rugs, stairs, bare floors, upholstery, car interiors and drapes. It is also very useful and convenient in blowing debris from workshop or garage floors using the blowing port.

Portable and Lightweight

It weighs only 8.6 lbs which makes it the 2nd lightest vacuum on our list. Definitely a breeze to carry this little Mite around. It’s extremely portable with the rewind cord feature (not auto-rewind though). It fits snug in a closet or storage bin.

Multi-Surface Cleaning

The Mighty Mite has two height adjustment settings for versatile cleaning. One height is for bare floors and one is for carpet and rugs. This Mighty Mite is also decent at handling long pile and shag carpets because it doesn’t have a motorized brush roll.

Decent Filtration

The Mighty Mite is not HEPA rated, but it is a bagged vacuum. This usually improves the filtration factor since dust is trapped inside a bag versus swirling around a dust bin. It’s not the vacuum you want if you need heavy allergy relief, but it’s a decent little vacuum for everything else.

Great Attachments & Features

The Mighty Mite comes with 2 extendable wand attachments allowing you to get up high. You can tackle ceiling fans, and drapes easily with these two connected together. It also comes with an upholstery/dust brush, crevice tool and obviously the bare floor nozzle. There is also a blower port on this canister allowing you to blow air instead of suck. Comes in handy when using it outside.

The Downsides

At this cheaper price, you sacrifice some features. First is the motorized brush roll. For some, this isn’t a big deal, but for the majority it is. Medium and low pile carpet reign supreme in most households so lacking this brush is a turn off to most. Second, it’s missing a auto-cord rewind feature we love seeing. This isn’t a deal-breaker, but still something to note. Lastly, is the bag feature. For some people, bags are actually a positive. We view them as an extra cost and hassle since it requires more work. The choice is yours though.
